What is NFC

NFC (Near Field Communication) is a completely wireless technology that enables data to be transferred between two devices, an example being contactless payments with bank cards. The data transferred can be text data or numbers.

The tags themselves usually come in the form of wristbands (waterproof) and contain tiny microchips that are able to transfer information to a mobile phone, as long as it is NFC enabled

The NFC enabled wristbands are then locked, so that any data stored on them cannot be changed. Usually tags are not able to be unlocked again, making them more secure. Please check your mobile phone is compatible and the NFC is activated, if you are unsure consult your provider. Owners of iPhone 6 or newer with iOS 11 or above can download an iPhone NFC app to read the wristbands.

99ReUnite Wristbands

999ReUnite is a collaboration between the three Emergency Services, Police, Fire and Ambulance and supported by the “Good Deeds Trust” to help get loved ones returned home quickly and safely that have conditions such as Dementia, Alzheimer's or any other mental health condition.

We use the NFC technology which is fitted to most modern mobile phones, you simply place your mobile over the “LOGO” on the wristband and it will display a first name and mobile number/s. You simply call the telephone number and get the individual returned; if the number fails to connect you can also call Lancashire Constabulary on 101 or 999 quoting the unique reference number also displayed. Police will then make contact with family or dispatch officers.
